The Chop Houses of Manchester are institutions. Mr Thomas’s and Sam’s were opened by the Studd brothers back in the late 1860s. At that time, our grade-ii listed building was home to the Unitarians. A haven for free-thinking revolutionaries.

We added this historic building to The Victorian Chop House Company in 2012. We are still a family-owned independent business, championing the very best of British food & hospitality. And this year we have been awarded our record-breaking fourth Wine Spectator Award, recognising us as having one of the world’s best wine lists.

Fine dining, hearty fresh-cooked comfort food, stunning wines, fabulous function rooms and gorgeous surroundings.

The world has changed a lot while we have been closed. On both sides of the doors.

You couldn’t come to us, so we set about bringing us to you. Chop House Home Service is here to stay.

And we are opening the doors with a fresh new Wine Spectator Award, to add to the three we already had, recognising us as one of the world’s best wine lists.

After months in lock down, we are delighted to open the doors to our historic building once again.

In its illustrious 154-year history, our building has been home to ground-breaking unitarians, it’s survived bombings, renovations, riots and now the lock-down portion of COVID.

But the fight is not over yet.

The Chop Houses need you. So, please pay us a visit, book a table, enquire about events (virtual and physical) and perhaps browse our home service menu if you don’t fancy venturing into town just yet.

Thank you for your continued support
